The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships 2022
At the apex of Italian sparkling wine: Kettmeir’s Metodo Classico Athesis Brut Alto Adige wins the “National Champion Best Italian Sparkling Wine” award and Kettmeir is elected “World Champion Rising Star” at the 2022 Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships.
Kettmeir and its Metodo Classico sparkling wine continue to amaze, and position themselves at the very top among Italian bubblies in the 2022 edition of the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships, the most authoritative, complete and severe international competition for this category of wines anywhere in the world, captained by Tom Stevenson, Essi Avellan MW and George Markus.
The 2018 Metodo Classico Athesis Brut Alto Adige D.O.C. in magnums won the award for the “Best Italian Sparkling Wine”. For the first time, the CSWWC’s rating of Italian sparklers was dominated by a wine from the Alto Adige D.O.C., an authentic “bubbly from the Dolomites” and the first Metodo Classico wine to be released onto the market by Kettmeir in 1992.
Kettmeir was also crowned as the “World Champion Rising Star”, the international accolade awarded to an emerging winery in the realm of sparkling wines: a great achievement for the historic Alto Adige winery founded in 1919, a pioneer in restoring the region’s ancient tradition of making bubbly wines and in creating the local Sparkling Wine Route.
